i love that their character arc is not yet complete and they are now in the era of making all the worst choices, i love that they are trying to be good parents and not magically managing to be one, i love that they are at least trying to communicate but failing miserably, just look at these traumatized wet cats, i love that they are not remembering everything exactly how it happened and that they have difficulty expressing themselves and understanding each other, they are such a mess, and i love this on them

Characters are supposed to be shown at their worst during the beginning of the series- that’s how the development they experience throughout the course of it pays off.

I didn’t think I would like Stolas as the way he came off in the pilot and first episode- he’s now my favorite character and I want him to have a happy ending.

Same with Weiss from RWBY. I despised her in season one. But how she is now? I adore her. She had to go through 8 seasons of development to get where she is now.

If these people want a comedy that won’t trigger their smooth brains into having to think about the complexity and nuance of the story, then maybe they should just go watch Family Guy instead.

Sick and fucking tired of those people who say “HB went downhill, what happened to it just being a comedy” just say you don’t like “complex” media (it’s not even complex, it’s like the bare minimum) because you’re shit at critical thinking and you only watch shows to turn your brain off.

Also what do you miss exactly? a pilot and 2 episodes max? cause it immediately established drama and angst, and if that’s not your thing, good for you, don’t watch it. But don’t get on my ass about “bad writing” just because you’re too up your own ass to stop criticizing everything you personally don’t like.

“They ruined Blitz’s character, they ruined Stolas’ character, they should’ve stayed like they were in the pilot” NO THE FUCK THEY SHOULDN’T HAVE. I want to have a reason to root for these characters, i want to be able to see all their emotions, i want to relate to them and cry when they go through shit.

Had Stolas stayed a “comedic relief” character it would’ve gotten stale fast and the whole show would’ve been so unbelievably boring. Stolas is great because he’s tragic, because he shows his humanity more than humans themselves.

And Blitz DID need to be a better character. He’s not gonna lose his whole personality, but i’d much rather see him fucking care for once. That’s all.

Full Moons

I was combing Murder Family to see what stage the moon was in for fic writing reasons, and finding the moon FULL there got me thinking about a few things.

Stolas's call to Blitz in that episode wasn't a booty call for let's say . . . two weeks from now. It was for that night. Right after that job. Hurry up.

So what I make of this from Stolas's side is either . . .

This is the first full moon since Blitz took the book. Stolas has some kind of responsibility that requires complex magic every full moon. He thought he could perform that magic without the book, but realized he couldn't. So he realizes he HAS TO get it back. And the sex is a side benefit.

OR he doesn't really need the book to do his work. He's memorized the spells. He's just horny and wants an excuse to get Blitz over to his palace ASAP.

It really changes the tone of that night for me. Creates more pressure, but also more . . . nonchalance . . . where Stolas is concerned. Like he didn't fully consider the implications (obviously he should have) and falls ass backwards into a relationship that's fundamentally a transactional exchange. While behaving over the phone as if he's entirely in control of the situation. Compare this to how carefully he planned out ENDING the deal.

Which brings me to a separate cool thing . . .

Full moons mark the milestones of the stolitz relationship.

Murder Family: The deal begins.

The Full Moon: The deal ends.

Sinsmas: They start fresh.
